Catherine Dowling is currently submitting a new non-fiction book That Kind of Girl
Sergeant Nancy Jaramillo was That Kind of Girl: the kind who served four tours of duty in Iraq and, through courage and quick thinking, saved the lives of her comrades; the kind some men adored while others abused viciously; the kind who came home from war so shattered she turned to drugs to relieve her pain. Nancy Jaramillo struggled with addiction, trauma, and abuse on a scale unknown to most Americans, but more than anything else, she was the kind of girl who survived, who came through it all with her friendships, her humanity, and her generosity intact. Nancy’s story—one of courage and grit—has national relevance. Her life has the power to inspire thousands of American veterans who have returned from war unable to cope. It will give hope to millions of women across the country who have experienced abuse of any kind, and offers comfort to anyone anywhere who struggles with addiction.
